Life is a game, take it seriously

This blog is an experiment to see what would happen, when some not very serious tropical islanders try to write a serious computer vision blog.

  1. Hi,

Do you have a paper explaining in detail the algorithm “Object matching method made in the 20th century”.

    Thanks and Regards

    • It’s in the paper I mentioned in the blog post.
You can find it on Google scholar.

Lowe, D.G. 1999. Object recognition from local scale-invariant features.
In International Conference on Computer Vision, Corfu,
      Greece, pp. 1150–1157.

  2. Hey guys.

I love the design of your site, it’s really appealing. I am also surprised to find that Lowe’s infamous SIFT paper is not the most cited paper of all time.

Anyway, I am a Ph.D student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and I just launched my startup ChicEngine. ( I am looking for feedback (or even posts!) from people who are actively working in the computer vision field.

Let me know what you think!

    • Thanks, the website looks pretty cool. I also started a startup in 2011 but it ended up not successful ( The problem I had was building something that doesn’t provide enough value, in other words, people don’t need that much. I am now working on a new website. Hopefully, I would remember the last lesson. Check out the lean startup book if you haven’t.

  3. Hi,

The website looks great. Keep it up. I am currently in my last year for my Bachelor of Honors in computer software engineering. I found your site well set up. I am studying computer vision for my thesis , which I had completed last week. Thanks as well for the support you gave me regarding the Lowe’s infamous SIFT paper.

    Thanks and Regards

  4. @Gooly: Thanks for the excellent tip. I actually have not read that book so I will definitely pick up a copy. I really appreciate the feedback. Good luck with your future website and by all means, send me a message if you want someone to check it out!

  5. Hi Gooly,

First of all I must say that you blogs are really interesting. I am a sophomore yr student doing my Undergrad in Computer Science with interest in AI & ML. I want to take up some research in Probabilistic Model for Object Matching. I have contacted some professors form US Universities working in this area but unfortunately I am a bit too late to apply for this year’s summer research lab work.
Can you guide me the way here on.

    • I am not an expert on applying for stuff either, but if you want to do research yourself, it is definitely doable. You can start from some papers and try to duplicate them or start from some code written by others on the web. Good luck!

  6. your blog is awesome!

  7. Love your blog. I am beginning a lit review in the topic of computer vision. Is there a list of articles that you suggest I begin with?

    • Thanks, If you have a specific topic you wanna work on, you should be able to find some survey paper on google scholar, I would suggest you to narrow down the topic to say object recognition.
